"Candida Höfer is searching and finding places which having been used over a period of time, have developed an aura and essence of their own. She uses her own somewhat subjective understanding and captures these different places with her camera in colour and classifies them in different categories like waiting rooms, hotels, libraries, universities and museums. Here she clarifies "With my works I am not attempting to make a comprehensive or partial collection of different kinds of places. I am actually looking for something similar in all these places and what fascinates me is, how different this similarity often is."
