German painter, draughtsman and photographer
Huth, brother of the portrait painter and lithographer Rosa Huth (1815-1843), studied at the Städel arts college from 1836-1842. Then he worked together with Heinrich Funck (1807-1877), who lived in Frankfurt on Main from 1836-1854. In 1881 Huth participated in an historic exhibition with one oil painting and several watercolour paintings.
Just a few works of art by Huth (still) exist, e.g. the painting „Sonnenaufgang auf Burg Falkenstein im Taunus“ at the Historic Museum in Frankfurt on Main, Inv. Nr. 1933:10. A second version with the same motif is shown in Wiederspahn / Bode.
Maybe Huth didn't make so many paintings and drawings, because he also worked in the field of a photography, which boomed in the second half of the 19th century.
