Julian Faulhaber: LDPE
The photographic work LDPE focuses on given spaces and sceneries as well as everyday xobjects that are reproduced and spread through the mass media. There are no humans, only the still life of the xobjects with their suggestive, flawless, elusive surfaces. The uniformity of all visible surfaces and the flawlessness of all things bespeaks a basically theoretical and utopian view of the world, which is
presented here not as a model, but as given reality. At the same time, one is faced with the question of the construction and deconstruction of truth.
The title LDPE (low density polyethylene) refers to a thermoplastic which--in a figurative sense--cocoons
an actually existing world with layers of branched-out molecular chains. The pictures are digitally processed in part, which however does not constitute a prerequisite of the work, but only a serves as a tool to emphasize certain aspects of it.
All works are c-prints mounted on Alu-Dibond behind Acyrlglas.
