A similar shield in the Tropenmuseum (inv. 3070-158), Amsterdam, was collected by the missionary, Father J. Verschueren in 1953 and another in the British Museum (Oc1952,03.47) was collected by a Mr Saunders, a storekeeper who stayed for eight days in Poerai village, two days’ journey up the Merauke River.
