Alongside iconic fashion pieces such as Kelly bags, a Birkin bag and a tuxedo by Yves Saint Laurent, in its 11 November Fashion, Luxury and Vintage auction in Geneva, Koller will offer a beret that belonged to Boy George. Signed by the recording artist, the hat is a creation of the celebrated British designer Judy Blame, stylist to stars Neneh Cherry and Björk, and who recently worked as a consultant to John Galliano and Comme des Garçons. Fittingly, guests at the opening party for the auction preview will be able to admire these creations while listening to music from the 80s.
Fine Wines Auction at Koller Geneva
The auction catalogue for Koller Geneva’s wine auction this November reads like a Who’s Who of the French wine world: Château Yquem 1967 and 1976, Landonne, Moulin, Turque de Guigal, as well as Silex de Raveneau and an impressive series of Chambertin Clos de Bèze from Drouhin. Traditional grand cru Bordeaux wines will be present as well, such as Château Montrose, Cos d’Estournel, Trotte Vieille and Lynch Bages. Château Yquem produces without doubt one of the best white wines in the world, and the 1967 vintage is one of the most sought after by Yquem (lot 470, CHF 900 – 1 200 / GBP 600 – 800). Notes of dried apricots, quince and candied citrus linger, and its rich texture covers the palate. The 1976 vintage has a slightly more exotic character, including subtle aromas of coconut and spices (lot 471, CHF 400 – 500 / GBP 270 – 340).
Guigal’s single vineyard wines: La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque are internationally recognized as among the finest wines from the northern Rhône region. These wines are often imitated but never matched, thanks to these vineyards’ unique situation in the region (lot 496, CHF 1 130 – 1 390 / GBP 760 – 940). From the Loire Valley producer Domaine Didier Dagueneau comes Silex, a wine with a floral bouquet, subtle fruity notes and a precision as fine as a laser beam (lots 103 and 104, CHF 70 – 90 each / GBP 45 – 60). Several voluptuous wines from Joseph Drouhin will also be offered, such as a large group of Chambertin Clos de Bèze (lots 159 – 166). |
