Graham Kuo: „Mein Bemühen war es immer, eine Verbindung zwischen westlicher abstrakter Kunst und der Kalligraphie Chinas mit Hilfe meiner Malkunst zu schaffen.“ Die einzigartige Spannung, die dabei in den Kompositionen entsteht, hat ihren Anfang im buddhistischen Erbe und in Folge dann in der Vereinnahmung westlichen Gedankenguts, welches auf australische Verhältnisse zugeschnitten ist. Kuo malt oft an mehreren Bildern gleichzeitig, die Kompositionen in Acryl und Öl entstehen unter Verwendung von Primärfarben und Pastelltönen mit sensiblen gestischen Schwüngen und viel Freiraum dazwischen. Mit gewollter Leichtigkeit werden die einzelnen Farben gesetzt, die der Künstler dann in ihrer Eigendynamik trocknen lässt. Kuo hinterfragt seine schöpferischen Ideen nicht, er arbeitet beständig an sich, immer von dem Wunsch beseelt, Vollkommenheit über seine perfekte Malerei hinaus zu erreichen. Alle Zeichen sind spontane Äußerungen aus den Emotionen heraus und unwiederholbar. Die Bildersprache ist voll von gewollt versteckter Symbolik. Kuo vertritt seine abstrakte Malerei leidenschaftlich, weil sie ihm nahezu keine Grenzen auferlegt. Man kann den Künstler in der Tradition des europäischen Fauvismus sehen.
