German painter, draughtsman and graphic artist

1825/26 Lucas worked together with Peter von Cornelius (1783 - 1867) in Munich, before he went to Italy 1829. There he became a member of the circle of artists around J.A. Koch (1768 - 1839).

In 1834 he came back to Darmstadt and from that time onwards he mainly painted Italian motifs in the style of Koch and Schirmer.
